Haven Alumni Highlight - Chandler
I was a heroin addict for years. I landed myself in many treatment centers along the way, but relapse was a consistent part of my story as well. In the winter of 2021, I was broken physically, and spiritually. I was once again in a detox center after a relapse on heroin and had nowhere else to turn. The Haven and their amazing staff worked tirelessly to help me get everything set up to intake into their program. Even going as far as to keep constant communication with my former employer to get the proper paperwork needed. I admitted into their newly opened Westside Haven men’s program, in West Jordan. I was scared and had no idea what to expect, other than the fact that countless people I knew who were successful and sober had completed the Haven. What I experienced there was nothing but love, care, and treatment for my addiction. It was there I learned the true meaning of accountability and non judgement. It was there I made lifetime connections and friendships with not only my peers but staff and counselors as well. I was given the tools and resources I needed to be successful for the long term after treatment. But most of all I had hope again for my future and a determination to stay sober again. I have so many amazing memories from my stay at the Haven that I will cherish forever. Anybody who is at the end of the road of addiction and has the willingness to try again, should reach out and allow them to help.
