Haven Alumni Highlight - Aaron C.
Before I ever even knew of The Haven my life was a complete disaster, not only did I hate myself but everyone around me. I stole from everyone I met including my family and caused harm to most people I met. I was so dishonest and angry. So angry. All I ever cared about was getting my next fix no matter what the cost. I lost all 3 of my children and my family. I was broken and so lost. This was 25 years of my life.
The day I found The Haven I was really scared and unsure if it was the right place for me to be. The Haven welcomed me home and took me in, working on issues I never even knew I had and bringing me back to reality. At times it was challenging as my addiction tugged on me to return back to using but I refused; with the help of The Haven I was able to face those triggers and challenges with confidence. The Haven showed me I never needed to pick again. They taught me how to love myself again.
Today I have my children and my family back in my life. I am a great father and great provider. I am self-employed and give back to The Haven and the sober community which gave me so much. Service work is a huge part of my recovery today. I am happy and healthy with a whole new take on life. I owe my life to The Haven and am so grateful be part of such an amazing place.
