The Other Side of Addiction

October 5, 2016 | by Haven Staff

In response to the East Liverpool Police Department posting a photo of parents who had OD’d with a child in the back seat of the car, claiming it was the other side of addiction that the public needs to see. Here is what the other side of addiction really looks like, recovery!

"We have a combined 13 years of recovery from alcohol and drugs. We are hardworking, productive members of society and the local recovery community."

"I'm a Registered Nurse, a mom, a daughter, and a good friend. Chris is an honest, hardworking man working towards his degree in Social Work. My two lovely daughters get to have a present mom and two positive role models in me and Chris. My girls have never had to see me drink or drug because of recovery, and for that I am so grateful! We both fought hard for our recoveries, and for where we are in life today. There is hope, and there is a solution. This is what that looks like. This is what the public needs to see. Thank you God for this life, we are truly blessed."

Bradli Jo and Chris are two strong figures in recovery, and there are so many more like them right here in Salt Lake. We need to take more time to appreciate and celebrate the solution. There is so much love and help for anyone who is suffering, or loves someone that is. It’s people like this that are here to love you until you can love yourself. Cheers to the other side of addiction, and how beautiful it can truly be.
