We are excited to announce that The Haven has been awarded the Golden Seal from The Joint Commission! We want to help you understand what this means and how this will impact the care we provide.
The Joint Commission is an independent, nonprofit organization that accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States by evaluating the quality of care provided. This accreditation and certifications are recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality of care that reflects an organization’s commitment to the care they provide to their patients. The Joint Commission’s Golden Seal is reserved for the top healthcare centers.
This is an important time for Addiction Treatments centers in Salt Lake City and surrounding communities due to the Rio Grande Project. In the latter stages of the Rio Grande Project there is an emphasis on getting homeless individuals the help they need, and in many cases this includes addiction treatment.
It is also an important time for Utah due to the opioid crisis. Every month in Utah, 23 individuals die from prescription drug overdoses. Utah is also ranked 7th in the U.S. for drug poisoning deaths (2013-2015). Also from 2000 to 2015, Utah has experienced a nearly 400% increase in deaths from the misuse and abuse of prescription drugs. This opioid crisis has been declared a “Public Health Emergency.”
By receiving the Golden Seal from the Joint Commission, The Haven will be recognized on a national level and continue providing quality care to all of the community. This can provide additional revenue that can be used to help more people, improve and expand our facilities, and make more services available! It will hold The Haven to a higher standard that will help encourage us to continue to strive for excellence.
